Varun Dhawan rejects RSVP’s offer of playing legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand in his biopic

For a very long time now there has been speculation of legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand’s biopic. While at first Karan Johar has bought the rights of the film and Shah Rukh Khan was supposed to rope in for the titular role, however, it never happened due to multiple reasons. Now according to the information, Ronnie Screwvala from RSVP has bought the rights of the project and is planning to kick start it on a huge scale by 2022.

According to the reports, the director of films Ishqiya and Udta Punjab Abhishek Chaubey will helm the film. The filmmaker along with Supratik Sen will pen the screenplay. While everything seems perfect the makers are still stuck in the midway. As per the rumourmongers, Ronnie wanted to cast Varun Dhawan as the lead in the film. But the actor turned down the offer. Below are the details.

A source was quoted by Bollywood Hungama as saying, “RSVP approached Varun Dhawan for the movie. The script is terrific and he liked the whole plot. But the problem was that RSVP needed his dates almost immediately after the lockdown this year. He is already committed to several films and he couldn’t accommodate this one, because this will need a lot of his time – for the prep and then, the shoot. So he had to decline the offer.”

Meanwhile, the actor has four films in the pipeline Jug Jugg Jeeyo, followed by Amar Kaushik’s Bhediya, Sajid Nadiadwala’s Sanki, and Sriram Raghavan’s Ekkis.

Now, let’s see who will play the role of the iconic hockey legend in the biopic, stay tuned for more updates on this!
