Varun Dhawan in Citadel’s Indian Spinoff! Russo Brothers reveal the shooting date

Varun Dhawan is riding high on success after his performance in Bhediya was highly praised by the critics and the audience. Well, finally the facts are out, and the rumours that surfaced a long time ago have been confirmed to be true. Varun is really gonna lead an Indian spin-off of the sci-fi series, Citadel. The creators of this show, the Russo Brothers, have themselves shared the news by revealing the first look of Varun Dhawan’s character. They also announced that the shooting for this series will commence in January 2023.

On their joint IG account, the filmmaker shared a post that reads, “We are thrilled to officially announce that we will be bringing you the Indian instalment of the Citadel universe. The local original spy series will start filming in January 2023.” In the post, you will also see a picture of Varun in a brown jacket and black T-shirt, giving an ardent look to the cameras. You will also notice Mumbai’s beachfront and the well-known Taj hotel in the background.

Here’s what Varun Dhawan said about the project

Well, this project marks the debut of Jug Jeeyo actor in web shows. Talking about the same, he said, “Citadel is an extremely aspiring project and an exhilarating franchise. Being a part of the fantastic universe created by the Russo Brothers, AGBO, and Jennifer Salke is a watershed moment in my career. I always admired their work, and my excitement has no limits after being a part of this project. I just can’t wait to commence the shooting.”

Driven by ‘The Family Man’ director Raj & DK, Citadel collaborates with Prime Video to make it accessible to the audience. “We are highly keen to team up with Russo Brothers, two very inspiring filmmakers, for this worldwide event series with our long-time partner Prime Video. Working with versatile and dynamic actors is a source of excitement for us. We have put in a lot of effort s and partnered with many global teams to bring this interlaced, one-of-a-kind realm to life. Besides the stellar star cast, we have tried to push the limits of storytelling in India.” Raj & DK said.

As per reports, there are several claims that Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who worked with Raj & DK in ‘The Family Man,’ is also a part of the cast in an Indian spinoff.
