Urvashi Dholakia reveals how she struggled for Rs 3,000

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Urvashi Dholakia opened up to her earlier days of struggle. The Naagin actress recalled the time when she needed Rs. 3000. Urvashi said she had filmed one pilot episode to arrange the amount, where the makers had already told her that there will be just half the payment since it was the first episode. Recalling the time, Urvashi added, “Not that I was dependent, but it taught me to be a little more careful.”

Earlier talking about her struggle Urvashi Dholakia had said “My journey has been great. Thankfully, I am still surviving. It has been a beautiful journey for me and has been a great learning experience. What more can I say? It has been three decades, I will probably have to write a 100-page essay on it. To be honest, when I joined the TV industry, I was six years old. I barely had any struggle. Times were different at that point in time. I don’t know how to put that in form of an answer for you, to be honest.”

She added, “At that time, there was barely any struggle. It (acting) is something that I always loved so I never saw it as a struggle. Ups and downs come and go. But I was passionate about it since the time I was a kid that I really didn’t want to think of it as negative. I used to have my mom on the sets when I was a kid. So there was no particular struggle.”

Urvashi Dholakia further said, “I came into the spotlight very late. That time, there was only print. People used to know me as a child who used to go on the field. Most of the teachers never liked me in school. Because at that point in time, acting was kind of taboo. It wasn’t even considered. About 34 years back, it was not accepted and was ignored. The whole mindset and perception of people towards acting at that time was different.”
