The B Town had two films to release, one was based on the real-time incidents of Surgical attack at the Pak army by the Indian army and the other is based on Dr. Singh called The Accidental Prime Minister. Now, let’s check one by one and find out the way the film has performed at the box office. Let’s start with Uri The Surgical Strike. The film had a decent star cast, and ever since the trailer of the film was released, it helped to create a decent pre-release buzz in the media. The fierce action and heavy dialogues have made the trailer not just popular but among the most viewed one in the social media. Thus with this buzz, the film on the first day has done well and continue to do well in the coming days as well.
As per reports, the film started with a good occupancy in the morning shows reaching 30 to 40 per cent, which soared with the passing time. In the evening and night shows, some of the screens both the multiplex and the single screens even touched 100 per cent occupancy. The film was liked almost in all the places including the North more than the South. The positive reviews by most of the critics have added a good buzz in the media. As per reports, the 1st-day box office collection for Uri The Surgical Strike went to on to 6.5 Crores, which is a decent figure. The film will not have a good word of mouth buzz, and it will help in gaining big at the box office.
Now, talking about the other film The Accidental Prime Minister, it had a mixed review, and it was also mired with some controversy by the Congress Party and others. However, the kind of buzz it had was mostly due to the political in nature of the film. Most of the critics feel that the film has more to do with politics which is again a niche subject and did not appeal to many. Also, the ruling party promoting it did the damage to some extent as the audience in India will watch films only for entertainment and not to take any stress particularly if it has anything to do with the Indian polity. So was the performance of the film at the box office. As per reports, the 1st-day box office collection for The Accidental Prime Minister went to score around 2.5 Crores. It would remain the same in the first weekend as well as it failed to garner the kind of word of mouth buzz as we have seen for Uri.
