Unlike Avatar: The Way of Water, CBFC Clears Avatar: Fire and Ash with Zero Cuts

The highly anticipated Hollywood blockbuster Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to release in just two days, generating immense excitement worldwide. In this exclusive update, Bollywood Hungama shares insights into the film’s censor certification process.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted Avatar: Fire and Ash a U/A 16+ certificate on December 11, 2025. Given the franchise’s history—which includes strong language and intense violent scenes—there were concerns that this third installment might face cuts or censorship.

However, the Examining Committee passed the film without demanding a single visual cut or alteration to its dialogue. No words were muted, deleted, or replaced, marking a significant departure from the previous film’s censor experience. Whether this is due to the absence of profanities in the film or preemptive self-censorship by the studio remains to be seen.

At 197 minutes and 21 seconds, Avatar: Fire and Ash is now the longest film in the franchise. The original Avatar (2009) ran for 162 minutes, while Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) had a runtime of 192 minutes and 10 seconds.

Earlier, the BTown portal – Bollywood Hungama had reported that Avatar: The Way of Water underwent multiple cuts by the CBFC, with 12 profane words muted across 18 instances. These included terms such as ‘ps face’, ‘bh’, ‘a**’, ‘f*g’, ‘st’, and ‘fk’, among others.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is releasing worldwide on December 19, 2025. The original film centered around humans attempting to colonize Pandora, threatening the native Na’vi tribe. The sequel saw the protagonist become one of the Na’vi, starting a family but forced to seek refuge with an aquatic clan amid renewed human threats. This new chapter promises to continue that epic saga. Stay tuned for more only with us and if you have anything to share do comment below and share your thoughts.
