Umesh Bist to Direct Khosla Ka Ghosla 2; Huma Qureshi Exits Project
Last month, buzz emerged about a sequel to the cult classic Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006), with reports that Huma Qureshi was in talks for the lead role. However, Bollywood Hungama has uncovered some fresh and intriguing updates about this much-anticipated project.
A source revealed, “While Dibakar Banerjee directed the original Khosla Ka Ghosla, marking his directorial debut, he will not be returning to helm the sequel. Instead, Umesh Bist—known for the critically acclaimed Pagglait (2021) starring Sanya Malhotra and the 2024 Zee5 series Gyaarah Gyaarah—has taken over as director for Khosla Ka Ghosla 2.”
The source added, “The makers have great faith in Umesh Bist’s ability to balance dark humor with emotional depth. Given that Pagglait handled these elements beautifully, and since Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 also combines wicked humor with a strong family narrative, they believe Umesh is the perfect fit to do justice to the sequel.”On the casting front, the source confirmed, “Huma Qureshi was initially in discussions, but those talks did not come to fruition, and she is no longer part of the project. The search for the female lead is currently underway.”
Meanwhile, Boman Irani, who famously portrayed the antagonist Kishan Khurana in the original, has officially signed on. In an interview with Bombay Times on August 10, Irani expressed his excitement and cautious optimism, saying, “I am very excited for the sequel. For the first time in a long while, I feel a bit fearful. We don’t want to create a weak sequel that tarnishes the legacy of the original. We will have to work very hard to uphold the film’s reputation.”

The original film follows Kamal Kishore Khosla (Anupam Kher), a Delhi resident who invests his savings of Rs. 30 lakhs to buy a plot in South Delhi. The plot is seized by a powerful builder, Kishan Khurana (Boman Irani), who demands Rs. 15 lakhs to transfer ownership. In response, Khosla’s sons and friends devise a clever and humorous plan to outwit Khurana and reclaim their land.
