Udta Punjab First Day Box Office Report- Average Response
After a long battle with Censor Board, the film Udta Punjab finally hits the theatres. However, considering the huge hype of the film, the response at the box office went lukewarm especially if you check the single screen theatres. Yet the film managed to give a decent impression over the minds of the moviegoers. The earlier response of the movie that addresses the big problem of Punjab seems to have disappointed on the first day despite being having a great pre-release buzz. On the other side, the film has managed do better at the multiplexes. The film opened up with an average opening in the morning shows though it witnessed some amount of surge in the evening shows yet it failed to give that impression to the audience.
As per reports, the first day box office collection for Udta Punjab tolled to around 9 crores, which his certainly lesser than expected. The film was able to secure 2000 screens and hence the trade pundits and experts were expecting a good amount of surge owing to the controversy surrounding the movie. The experts feel that it could be the controversy that has affected the film since the board has asked a whopping 89 cuts in the film, which led the makers of the film approach Bombay High Court that further overruled the recommended cuts and then it got cleared with one gut and three disclaimers.
The experts feel that the opening shows could be in trouble but it has a bright 1st weekend, which will tend to give a good amount of collection at the end of the day. As per reports, the film occupancy tolled to around 50 percent, which is likely to pick up in the coming weekend in both the single screens and multiplexes. On the other side as per reports, the people catching up the films had nothing but praises for the movie, which gives us the impression that the film will enjoy a good word of mouth buzz in the media. Well, let’s see how things go in the first weekend of the film release, but as of now, the picture isn’t that rosy.
