Zindagi Shatranj Hai Story

The story revolves around a married couple, Vishal and Natasha. While the duo is shown to have a happy life together, things take a drastic turn when Vishal vanishes and some other man barges into their bungalow, claiming to be Natasha’s husband. Natasha tries all the means possible to prove him wrong, but all her attempts fail. What transpires further in the plot is completely suspenseful. Where is Natasha’s husband? Who is the real culprit? You will have to watch the film to know.

Zindagi Shatranj Hai Review

I grew up watching daily soaps, movies, and varied content, but believe me, the film hardly offers anything new. Though it manages to create suspense till the end to keep you glued to your seats, the generic plot of this film sounds like a daily soap opera. It doesn’t have anything extraordinary to WOW the audience. A mediocre plot, formula-driven strategies like item numbers, and the involvement of a stellar star cast cannot gain praise for the storyline. Trying hard to make you laugh in many sequences by creating comic characters, it also fails to crack any witty lines to go LOL.

Dushyant Paratp Singh, without a doubt, does excellent work as a director, but the script could have been much better. The screenplay of Zindagi Shatranj Hai fits well with the sequences, but the cinematography needs revision. The length of this film is just 80 minutes, which would work in their favour. I personally enjoy Diler Mehandi’s vocals, and the ace singer didn’t disappoint me this time either in the “Gadbad Gadbad” track.

Talking about star performances. Hiten Tejwani is a talented actor, and he has tried to save the dark and gloomy drama with his outstanding act. Kavita Tripathi as Natasha is a total misfit for the character, as she fails miserably by overdoing her part. While Hiten and Kavita are the main characters in the plot, her performance was the weakest in the entire movie. She has failed to give her part a realistic touch. Hemant Pandey has done a decent job as always, and the other cast and crew’s performances also look satisfactory.

Zindagi Shatranj Hai Review: CT Verdict

Overall, the film manages to engage the viewers, but it lags behind in the area of creativity and originality. However, the positive thing about the film is that it will retain the suspense till the end and reveal it shockingly in the climax. For someone who has watched a lot of dramas in the thriller genre, this film’s plot would be a big disappointment. In other words, it is a starter pack for thriller dramas. Given the film’s positive aspects, it’s a worthwhile one-time viewing with your family this weekend.
