Bollywood is known for making too many sequels. In fact, this very idea of making sequels has simply plagued the industry. Though you may find a minority opposing this idea, however, most of them simply love to cash on the success of the movies in order to convert the same into a franchise. This very year – 2014 also witnessed a couple of sequels unlike the way we had the previous year. So, how about exploring the top 10 worst ever Bollywood sequels made in the B Town as under:
1). Singham Returns
If you look at this year, you have Singham Returns, which hit the theatres on 15th August. The promotion team and media partners were seen blowing things out of proportion for the same. However, digging deep, the script for the same was seen less meticulous. So, what went wrong in it? There are many punches, which were seen missing in the sequel found in its first part. Thus, the entire responsibility to drag the movie alone was not the case earlier. Though this idea of Rohit was cool for his career, however, it proved out to be a top gimmick for the film at the end of the day. You may not simply call the sequel as bad, however, is weaker as compared to the original one.
2). Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobara
It was a horrible movie with Akshay Kumar replacing the Emran Hashmi. The director, Milan Luthria simply tried to portray the character of Dawood Ibrahim, however, he simply failed to showcase him the right way. The original version having Ajay Devgn, Emran Hashmi, Kangana and Prachi was better than the sequel one. The script, music, the characters found in the movie was more subtle as compared to the sequel. All in all, it failed to even appear the sequel of Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, turning out to be the worst sequel of Bollywood.
3). Race 2
If you compare this sequel with its original one, clearly the winner is the latter one. Race 2 is nothing but a bad copy of the original one, while at the same time it has simply missed out the soul of the earlier movie. In Race, the rivalry among the sibling, the randomness factor and the viciousness have simply worked together. However, in Race 2, similar sort of elements failed to work and turn out a great movie. It is not at all different from the original one but just came without any sole and masala element. Ironically, the biggest problem with such sequels is that they simply copy things from the original without adding the predictability in it. Race 2 on the other side is basically a bunch of some really cool movies, which attempted hard to make more money than the original one.
4). Dabangg 2
Similar is the story with the sequel of Dabang. As per experts and critics, it was nothing but a bad sequel for the filmmaker despite making good money at the box office. The character of Chulbul Pandey simply was portrayed in a larger than life icon. The charm of original movie simply failed to replicate in Dabangg 2. In nutshell, the story of the movie was very much weak, while there was no Chedi Singh in it and the sequel simply appeared to be a second hand and half-cooked film.
5). The sequels of Raaz
Raaz though was not the path breaking horror movie, however, it was successful enough to scare you enough without ridiculing the filmmaker. However, with every sequel hitting the theatres, the tone of the movie simply went louder but at the same time the story and the sole simply went down. There is no doubt to the fact that none of the sequels failed to reach to the right horror level of the original one, which was shot in Ooty and revolves around the betray of a husband.
6). Houseful 2
Frankly Sajid Khan is known for making weird movies, Himmatwala and Humshakals are some of the classic examples for the same. However, there are few good movies as well, which certainly include Houseful. But the fact that the idea of coming out with its sequel was a bad idea, as it lacked story and creativity. The fact is the intelligence of Sajid Khan was simply replaced by arrogance, which made the movie very much horrible. Houseful 2 is all about cheap punches, which was not the case of Houseful. Now, he plans for the third sequel, hopefully he makes something tangible this time.
7). Jism 2
The Bhatts may be popular for copy Korean or Hollywood movies while making their films, but this doesn’t mean that they are bad filmmakers. The fact is, they have made some cool movies as well and Jism is one of them. However, the sequel was nothing but a big blunder wherein you had Sunny Leone in one of the most bold avatars, however, it simply lacked the story, which can make it a good movie. The original one had John Abraham and Bipasa Basu who did a cool job in the movie making it worthy to watch, which was missing in the sequel.
8). Krrish 3
Despite loads of money Krrish 3 made, the original Koi Mil Gaya was far better than the sequel. The sequel was nothing but a lame efforts to squeeze the original Hollywood story to make a shabby motion picture. Koi Mil Gaya was judiciously made move with the Extraterrestrial element fitting into the right bill. However, Krrish 3 proved out to be a hotchpotch movie, which simply replicates from a number of sources, which makes the film simply haywire with a very feeble climax.
9). Yamla Pagla Deewana 2
Just because the original Yamla Pagla Deewana from Deols got popular that doesn’t mean they happen to be a good filmmaker. The fact is Deols have been bad in making movies, with laughable and hilarious kind of scripts, which hold no water over the box office and similar goes the story at the camps of critics. Yet they were successful in making the original one better than the Sequel. The YPD 3 was horrible in many sense including having weaker story, dull music and poor performances as well.
10). Ragini MMS 2
Once again Sunny Leone was seen in another Bollywood movie just to increase the temperature, however, it simply failed to catch the audience for long for having a very week story and other elements. Except certain obscene and pathetic sequences from the former porn star, we really didn’t had much stuff in the sequel, which the original had to some extent.
