In Bollywood, you can find a couple of films, which have been inspired by the Real Life Incidents. There are certain directors who are smart enough to pick up these incidents and end up making incredible movies for the silver screen. Now, let’s check the top 10 films, which have been inspired by real life events in Bollywood as under:

1). Gangs of Wasseypur I & II

One such film, which has been inspired by real time incidents include the Anurag Kashyap film called Gangs of Wasseypur. It was based on the coal mafia found in Dhanbad in Jharkhand state. The film had Manoj Bajpai, Huma Quereshi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Richa Chadda in the lead roles. Both the parts have been among the critically acclaimed films in the industry. Some even call this film as a modern cult venture from Anurag Kashyap.

2). Madras Café

It was a political thriller based on the Sri Lankan civil war showcasing the assassination of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. The movie was directed by the talented filmmaker called Shoojit Sircar, wherein John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles.

3). Firaq

This film gave Nandita Das the tag of director as it was among the debut movie for the actress starring Naseerudin Shah, Paresh Rawal and Deepti Naval. The film has been inspired by the 2002 Gujarat riots and its aftermath. It was compiled on the lives of many real time incidences taking place during the state sponsored genocide.

4). No One Killed Jessica

This film needs no introduction as was based on the murder case of a model called Jessica Lal who was murdered in the presence of 200 people in a bar just because the lady refused to serve wine as it was closing time. The man killing the girl was acquitted by the court due to no evidence and testimony. However, with extensive media coverage of the issue led the reinvestigation leading the man Manu Sharma the life statement. Vidya Balan was seen playing the character of Sabrina Lal, while Rani Mukherji was the journalist in the film.

5). Guru

Though the filmmakers didn’t gave any official statement about the film loosely based on the life of the well known industrial called Dhirubhai Ambani but showcased this man over the silver screen. The film had Abhishek Bachchan playing the lead character, while Aishwarya played his wife in the Mani Ratnam film.

6). Black Friday

This film was based on the horrifying incidence of bomb blast carried out by certain anti social elements in 1993. The film got the story from the novel of Hussain Zaid called Black Friday. The film has Kay Kay Menon and Pavan Malhota in the lead roles.

7). Not A Love Story

This film is based on the murder case of Neeraj Grover, which led the arrest of two people in this case. This murder was widely discussed in the media and was directed by Ram Gopal Verma having Deepak Dobriyal and Mahie Gill in the lead roles.

8). Special 26

Very few people know that the movie Special 26 was based on the famous Opera House Robbery of 1987. The robbery was carried out the same way it is shown in the film with a fake CBI officials taking away all the stuff. The film was an average grosser but gained critical acclaim.

9). Once Upon A Time in Mumbai

This film showcased the establishment of underworld in Bombay city, which encompassed both crime to smuggling. The film has some characters, which were loosely inspired by the known bhais or gangsters called Haji Mastan and Dawood Ibrahim. Milan Luthria was the man to direct this film.

10). Gulab Gang

This film is inspired by a group called Gulabi Gang based in Bundelkhand in UP lead by a lady called Sampat Pal Devi. The gang came into force to address the issue of domestic violence and abuse agains women, which was growing with every passing day. The film had Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawala in the lead roles.
