The film starring Farhan Akhtar based on a life of a Boxer and the ups and downs called Toofan has some updates. The film was expected to hit the screens in September 2020, however, the Pandemic further damaged the things and the makers pushed the things ahead. Later, we heard that the film will be released in theatres somewhere in 2021. Now, as per the popular B Town portal – Bollywood Hungama, the film misses theatrical release.
Yes, you heard it right, the film directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra who is also the producer of the movie is going to miss the theatrical release. It will now be releasing straight on the OTT platform – Amazon Prime. Despite the fact that theatres are now returning to normalcy, the makers are still deciding to go for an OTT release. However, the situation is still grim that prevents many to release the film in the B Town, the makers compelled to go the OTT way.
The makers feel that by going with the OTT platform, at least they will be able to recover the initial cost as releasing in the theatres has the risk of losing money in a big way. Considering the situation, it seems too obvious why the filmmakers are still preferring to release their movies on different popular OTT platforms rather than theatres. Talking about the movie, Farhan Akhtar plays the leading role of a boxer, while Mrunal Thakur is the leading lady with Paresh Rawal in the other key role in the movie. It is Farhan’s second collaboration with the makers after Bhag Milkha Bhag.
