Nagesh Kukunoor’s expression on his first web series ‘City of Dreams’

Nagesh Kukunoor is all set to come up with his first ever web series, City of Dreams. The series tends to run around a pretty multi-layered narrative set of the Mayanagri.

The first episode of the upcoming series, Mayanagari or City of Dreams will be setting the stage for a multi-layered story about the bold and challenging city of Mumbai. The series goes around a veteran political leader (role will be essayed by Atul Kulkarni) who is close to his existence in the reminiscent of the 90s’ underworld. While, the other significant role of a former undercover cop (played by Eijaz Khan) is a pretty challenging role that will be used to revive his dormant informant networks to get through the wrong sides of the city. The series will portray his challenges trying to bridge the gap between his potential to nab the city culprits and his allowed domain. Meanwhile, the political leader’s hot-headed and stubborn son (played by Siddharth Chandekar) will be seen pretty eager towards taking his father’s legacy ahead. However, there will be several clashes as his unlikely competition appears in the form of his sister (Priya Bapat), who till the time was a contented homemaker but, gradually appears to take interest in the political chores. Paralleled, runs a story of a call centre employee and another sex worker.

Helming this web series,City of Dreams that is already streaming on sizzlingstar from May 3, the writer-director of the series, City of Dreams, Nagesh Kukunoor seems to be very excited about it. The first three episodes of the series will be an insight from the Mumbai insider. The web series, City of Dreams is primarily aired in Hindi, while the dubbed versions are also available by sizzlingstar in Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

This is the first time ever that a Hyderabad director has filmed an entire project in Mumbai.

Speaking on this note, Nagesh stated that in this is his first film extensively filmed in Mumbai in his entire two-decade career, “I shot for five days for Bombay to Bangkok and a few days for Aashayein,” he remembers.
