Ashutosh Rana, the badass reel villain in Indian cinema, is 55 today. With some of the most iconic performances in the business, the actor has carved out a space for himself.

The actor, who was raised in Madhya Pradesh’s Gadarwara, used to portray Ravana in the drama Ramleela. He pursued acting professionally and enrolled at the National School of Drama in New Delhi.

After making his television acting debut in the Swabhimaan serial, Ashutosh went on to participate in numerous other serials, including Farz, Saazish, Kabhi Kabhi, Waris, and others. His acting career began with the film Dushman, in which he gave a powerful portrayal of a psychotic killer.

Dushman

Ashutosh took home the Filmfare award for finest acting in a negative role for his debut on the big screen. In addition to Sanjay Dutt and Kajol, Ashutosh performed the part of Gokul Pandit, a postman, in the 1998 film. Gokul develops into a serial killer and rapist who murders several people, including one of the twin Kajol sisters.

Sangharsh 

In this film, Ashutosh gave one of his most riveting performances. Every 90s youngster who saw the movie remembers the terrifying ululating sequence of Ashutosh Rana. In this 1999 film, the actor portrayed a trans woman who would kidnap and sacrifice children because he was a religious fanatic who thought that would help him achieve immortality. Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta played the key actors in the film.

Baadal

In this 2000 film, Ashutosh portrayed the evil DIG Jai Singh Rana. The protagonist of the tale is Badal, played by Bobby Deol, who despises Ashutosh for destroying his village. Rani Mukerji plays the lead in the film as well.

Awarapan

In this film from 2007, Ashutosh portrays the bad guy. Ashutosh is the mobster who at first views the lead character, Emraan Hashmi, as his son and eventually as an opponent to the point of wanting to kill him. Malik is one of his subtlest yet most lethal characters.

 Mulk

Ashutosh plays a racist public prosecutor in one of the most significant movies of the modern era from 2018. Ashutosh gives a magnificent performance in this courtroom drama that addresses current social issues. The film, which was directed by Anubhav Sinha, also has Tappsee Pannu and Rishi Kapoor as the lead characters.
