Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3, the third installment in the Tiger franchise and a key element of YRF’s Spy Universe alongside War and Pathaan, has taken the box office by storm with its massive opening. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the spy thriller hit theaters on Diwali, and its second day alone propelled its domestic box office earnings past the ₹100 crore mark. Early estimates suggest that Tiger 3’s Day 3 collection in India is expected to reach ₹42.50 crore, cementing its status as a box office behemoth.
While maintaining its position as a box office juggernaut, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger 3 witnessed a slight decline in its Day 3 collections, earning an estimated ₹42.50 crore. This marks a dip from its impressive Day 1 and Day 2 figures of ₹44.5 crore and ₹59 crore, respectively. With the Day 3 collections, the film’s total earnings have now reached ₹146 crore. Despite the decline, Tiger 3’s overall Hindi occupancy stood at a respectable 30.93% on Tuesday, November 14.
Tiger 3 serves as the sequel to the 2017 blockbuster Tiger Zinda Hai and is an integral part of YRF’s ambitious spy universe. This interconnected world will witness the thrilling crossover of characters from Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Hrithik Roshan’s War in upcoming stories. The spy thriller marks the return of Katrina Kaif as Zoya alongside Salman Khan’s titular spy, while Emraan Hashmi joins the franchise as the formidable lead antagonist. Additionally, the film features cameos from Hrithik Roshan as Kabir from War and Shah Rukh Khan from Pathaan, further expanding the universe’s scope.
The screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan emerges as a major strength of Tiger 3, complemented by the impactful dialogues penned by Anckur Chaudhry. The film is peppered with clever one-liners and comic punches that add levity even amidst intense scenes and action sequences. Anay Goswamy’s cinematography beautifully captures the diverse locales, while Rameshwar S. Bhagat’s editing could have been tighter to avoid some disjointedness. Despite running at a length of two hours and 36 minutes, Tiger 3 might occasionally feel sluggish, but the adrenaline-pumping action sequences, complete with explosions and gunshots, will surely keep you engaged.
