The Sabarmati Report Box Office Day 6: Vikrant Massey Starrer Remains a Poor Show Surpassing only ₹10 Crore

The Sabarmati Report, featuring Vikrant MasseyRaashii Khanna, and Riddhi Dogra, is a film centered around the 2002 Godhra train burning incident. Released on November 15, it is nearing the end of its first week at the box office. With a moderate budget and a limited release across approximately 600 screens, the film was designed for a niche audience. Its opening day collection of around Rs 1.25 crore was considered decent, and it experienced growth over the weekend. However, from Monday onward, earnings returned to the Rs 1 crore range.

The Sabarmati Report 6th Day Collection

Despite this, positive word of mouth has helped maintain its performance, with collections stabilizing around Rs 1 crore daily. Notably, on Tuesday, it earned Rs 1.3 crore, and on Wednesday, it increased to Rs 1.45 crore, bringing the total to Rs 10.25 crore. The film has been declared tax-free in Madhya PradeshChhattisgarh, and Haryana, which may encourage more viewers to watch it in theaters. Additionally, a screening for the Gujarat Chief Minister could further enhance its visibility. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also praised the film, which, while currently overshadowed by ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, may gain traction if the positive buzz continues.

The Sabarmati Report vs. 12th Fail

Vikrant Massey’s previous hit, 12th Fail, earned Rs 9.85 crores within its first five days, putting it just ahead of The Sabarmati Report (TSR), which is trailing by a mere Rs 0.54 crores. However, a significant factor could hinder TSR from achieving similar success. While 12th Fail was produced on a budget of only Rs 20 crores, allowing for greater returns, The Sabarmati Report had a budget of approximately Rs 50 crores, making it more challenging to reach a super-hit status if audience reactions are mixed.

Budget vs. Box Office Collection

Currently, TSR has recouped only 19.7% of its total budget. Fortunately, there are no major film releases until December 5, when Pushpa 2 hits theaters. If TSR maintains its current momentum, it could still perform well at the box office. With the potential for continued audience interest and no immediate competition, The Sabarmati Report has a chance to close the gap with 12th Fail and possibly achieve a successful run in theaters. The coming days will be crucial in determining its overall box office fate.
