The Odyssey Adjusts IMAX Schedule as Ticket Discounts Boost Box Office Collections
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continues its strong performance at the box office, generating ₹166.89 crores over 24 days. IMAX screens contributed ₹74.21 crores to this total. Since its July 17 release, the film held exclusive access to IMAX auditoriums in India. However, starting Friday, August 14, The Odyssey will share IMAX screens with the Anne Hathaway-starrer The End Of Oak Street.
Warner Bros. handles distribution for both films in India. The distributor requested IMAX theaters to assign two prime showtime slots to The End Of Oak Street. The remaining three or four daily IMAX shows will continue playing The Odyssey.
Distribution plans for standard screens have also adjusted for upcoming releases. Two major Hindi movies, Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, arrive in theaters on August 14. Consequently, Warner Bros. requested two daily shows for The End Of Oak Street in three-screen theaters and three shows in larger multiplexes.
Meanwhile, special Tuesday ticket discounts are driving high theater attendance for multiple films. Sony added Spider-Man: Brand New Day to the discount program during its second week. Regular screen tickets for the superhero film dropped to ₹149 or ₹199, while PXL tickets were priced at ₹249.
For the first time since its release, The Odyssey participated in Tuesday pricing for its IMAX shows. IMAX tickets sold between ₹299 and ₹499 across most locations. The temporary price reduction generated high occupancy rates for the film’s IMAX screenings nationwide.
