Yes! It’s not only Varun Dhawan, but we all are also disappointed by Kalank’s failure at the box office. The multi-starrer was fully loaded with experienced directors and acclaimed star cast was just a big flop show. With high publicity and exceptional storyline, everybody expected it perform better. But the results were very different. Varun Dhawan, who played the lead character of Zafar in the film, shared his views about the movie’s poor performance.
The failure hit him hard and to cheer him up his friends took him to Thailand on his 32nd birthday, a week after his movie release. To move on with this disappointment he indulged in Muay Thai, Thai boxing, his favorite kind of martial arts. He uploaded a YouTube video about his trip and came out to share his actual feelings, it says, “My 32nd birthday… But I am going to tell you how it all went down. I was a little down because my latest release did not go the way I thought it would and it did hit me a little hard, I will be very honest. I didn’t know how to react to it. A lot of people told me, ‘don’t show it’. I don’t know how to behave like that. Failures are a part of life.” He continued, “My friends though had my back. [They] told me ‘pack your bags.’ I said, ‘What are we going to do?’ They said, ‘Muay Thai.’ So the 1:25 flight on GoAir, we flew and the rest you can watch.”
It is quite natural to be sad and Varun we know you are going to bounce back.
Kalank was supposed to be the biggest opener for the year but box office turned out in opposite direction. The movie was produced by Karan Johar, and star cast included Varun, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonakshi Sinha. The film was directed by Abhishek Varman.
