One of the movies releasing this Friday included Talvar, which had Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles. Though the Meghna Gulzar had a decent review from all the critics, yet it failed to collect good collection at the box office. The reasons were obvious, similar movie titled Rahasya has been released covering the same Talwar family story with actors like Kay Kay Menon and others in the film, hence most of the audience is aware about the same. Secondly, with other films like Singh Is Bliing in competition which was far better promoted gives no change to Talvar to prosper.
Hence as per report, the first weekend box office collection for Talvar tolled to around 9.5 crores, which is not as expected by the filmmaker. The film was only able to collect 3.5 crore in the first day, which followed similar kinds of figures in the first weekend giving the meagre amount of 9.5. Unfortunately, even the presence of skilled actors like Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma too failed to secure the film. Though the filmmaker has targeted the multiplex audience was also able to get footfalls giving a decent amount but the single screens fail to give a decent opening for the film. As far as the weekdays are concerned, one cannot expect much from the film.
