Sacred Games 2 release delayed. Find out the expected date of release

Sacred-Games-Season-2As per the sources and reports, the release of the upcoming following season of Netflix series Sacred Games has been delayed. Sacred Games fans will have to now wait a bit longer than was expected. The second season of the Netflix’s first India original was supposed to be released on June 28 but, now there has been a delay in the same. The first season of the Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer was released on July 6 last year with a massive viewers’ response.

As reported, the Netflix show’s second season has been postponed due to another series and now it is expected to start streaming by August end. Also, the lead stars, Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are busy shooting for their respective projects, unable to allot timelined dates for the series.

As per a source who reported some famous media platforms, it was said that, “Saif and Nawaz starrer Sacred Games 2 was about to release on June 28. However, due to another show, it got postponed to August. The makers wanted a considerable gap between two hit series and hence, Saif and Nawaz’s show might have been pushed to August end. Also, there is a date issue with Saif and Nawaz being tied up in different projects. While Saif is shooting for his home production Jawani Janeman in London. Nawaz allotted bulk dates to his brother’s directorial venture Bole Chudiyan.”

The second season of Sacred Games will depict Ganesh Gaitonde trying to get a refuge in Kenya and become a crime lord, there in. For this, the cast has shot extensively across various locations of Mombasa (Kenya), Cape Town and Johannesburg. The second season of Sacred Games will also a introducing some new faces apart from the old ones including, officially announced names of Kalki Koechlin and Ranveer Shorey.

It is also reported that Made In Heaven star Sobhita Dhulipala and Mirzapur and Puncch Beat actor Harshita Gaur will be portraying certain lead roles for the second season as well. The first season of the series was based on Vikram Chandra’s best-selling novel was co-directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, opening doors of rave reviews on a global scale. The web series was well appreciated for its gritty plot and power-packed character performances.

The story of the series revolves around Sartaj, a seasoned and cynical Mumbai police officer, awakened by a call from an anonymous tip promising him an opportunity to capture the powerful Ganesh Gaitonde.

The intriguing Guruji (Pankaj Tripathi) is also a newly introduced character  in the second Season who will play the role of Gaitonde’s third father, pivotal to a series of unfolding a chain of events shaping the entire season. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap will continue directing Gaitonde’s track, while Neeraj Ghaywan will take over Sartaj’s plot for this tenure. Vikramaditya Motwane and Varun Grover are continuing their roles of being the show runner and the lead writer, respectively.

The Sacred Games cast had earlier hinted the second season’s scale is going to be far greater than the first one.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui talking about the show said, “This season will be the baap of the first one. Even if people know Ganesh Gaitonde, they won’t know what to expect from him. We shot extensively across Mombasa (Kenya), Cape Town and Johannesburg.”

Pankaj Tripathi about her role said, “As an actor, I can’t talk in detail about the show. I’ve been asked not to. But yes, I can definitely say that the scale of the show is huge this time. The writing is fantastic and the show will be very interesting.”
