Sherni Movie Review: Despite of Vidya Balan’s outstanding performance, the film is lost in the jungle!

Plot:
Sherni is a story of a Divisional Forest Officer Vidya Vincent played by Vidya Balan. She is posted in the jungles of Madhya Pradesh where she is assigned to track down a tigress addressed as T12, who is also known as the man-hunter. Vidya has to find the T12 to prevent her from hunting humans. But this is not an easy task for her as has to deal with the political scenario favouring the patriarch system around her. Vijay finds herself helpless until a worthy colleague in Mansoor (Vijay Raaz) comes to help her find a midway in dealing with the tigress.
Review: There are many storied biased in the jungle, and we have seen many men vs animal stories. But Sherni stands out. After giving a brilliant film Newton (2017) Amit Masurkar is back with Sherni in some similar circumstances. The journey to the magnificent jungle, keep the sights and sounds as close to reality as possible. The creators tried to keep it very natural, as we saw Vidya’s entry no loud music no typical Bollywood heroic action. The film is so real that one can relate to the scene and dialogues.
Vidya is undoubtedly a star performer in the film. Her character is reserved yet confident and that makes her more believable. There are moments in the film where she has no dialogues but her face speakers. Her character of an honest and dedicated officer has so much to take out from her. But where ever thing lack, was the poor character writing. For actors like Vidya good is not enough excellent is what requires every time.
Vijay Raaz is another legend in the film. He takes the character to another level whether it’s comedy or serious. Neeraj Kabi, Sharat Saxena, Brijendra Kala are best in what they do. However, Mukul Chadda who plays Vidya’s husband’s character gets overshadowed.
Final words: If you have not watched Newton then this will be a treat for you. But if you have watched Rajkumar Roa’s film then first wash your memories and start fresh. This jungle adventure will deserve a watch.
