Arvind Trivedi, famously known as Ravana from TV cult hit ‘Ramayan’ is no more!

Actor Arvind Trivedi, best known for his role as Ravana in Ramanand Sagar’s renowned mythological series ‘Ramayan,’ died on Tuesday night in Mumbai. He was 82 years old at the time. When ETimes reached out to his nephew, Kaustubh Trivedi, he confirmed the bad news. “He was not keeping well for quite some time, but today he suffered a heart attack and that led to multi organ failure.”

On Wednesday morning, the actor’s final rites would be held at Dahanukarwadi cremation in Kandivali West, Mumbai. Trivedi had also played a crucial role in the cult TV drama ‘Vikram Aur Betaal’, in addition to playing Ravan in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan.’

Not only that, but Trivedi had a long and illustrious career in Gujarati cinema, spanning more than three decades. The Gujarati film ‘Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya’ is still one of the most popular of all time. Upendra Trivedi, Trivedi’s brother, was also a well-known name in Gujarati cinema.

From 1991 to 1996, he was also a member of Parliament. He had also served as an acting chairman for the Central Board for Film Certification from 2002 and 2003. (CBFC).
