Taapsee Pannu reveals doing research for her role in Rashami Rocket

Actress Taapsee Pannu has recently opened up on doing lots of research for her role in sports drama Rashami Rocket. The film is directed by Akarsh Khurana and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, apart from Taapsee the film also stars Supriya Pathak, Abhishek Banerjee, Priyanshu Painyuli, and Supriya Pilgaonkar in pivotal roles.

Talking about the research for her character, Taapsee said: “Yes, I did a lot of research at my level for ‘Rashmi Rocket’, apart from what was going on at the scripting level. I had seen pictures and videos of a lot of athletes – Indian and international – to see the body language, before, after and while running, just to see their body types, because I had to take reference of athletes especially those who are of my build and height.

“Of course, I have never seen my body in that kind of a shape, so you are in for a surprise when you are trying to get those muscles to pop out because you want to see how they look on you. I had no idea how they’ll end up looking on me if I’ll look similar to those references that I had taken or no. So, it was a dive of trust that I did with my training and I am glad that it ended up looking very authentic.”

Previously during the screening of the film, when she was asked if she chose her movie on gender and screen-time, Taapsee Pannu reacted and said, “I get screen time properly, you can watch all my films and when did I say that? And above all, depending on my role I get the screen time. And to be honest, I haven’t looked at it this way ever, I was selected based on the gender and the character and the story, and I did what the story required. Had it been a man’s story, a man would have done the role, and I have never looked at it through gender’s point of view or screen time point of view, I’d stopped thinking this way a long time ago”

The movie is slated to premiere on ZEE5 on October 15.
