Sunny Deol, renowned for his memorable role in the 1997 war drama “Border,” is gearing up to reprise his action-packed persona in the sequel, expected to feature Ayushmann Khurrana. While the film’s production has already commenced, insiders have disclosed that the details for the commencement of filming have been finalized. In a recent update, a source revealed that the team is set to begin shooting for the film in October later this year.
The source shared, “The team behind Border 2 has been diligently preparing for the production. The magnitude of the first film demanded meticulous planning, and after extensive preparations, the team is now ready to commence shooting. As it stands, filming is scheduled to commence in October.” Earlier insights into the film’s plotline indicated that “Border 2” would not be a typical sequel. The source explained, “Border 2 is not going to be a sequel but instead, it is a story that unfolds on the same night as the events of ‘Border.’
The battle of Longewala involved not only the Indian army but also the Navy and the Air Force. ‘Border 2’ will recount the events from the perspectives of all three wings of the Indian Armed Forces.” The much-anticipated film is slated to hit the screens during the Republic Day weekend of 2026. Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and Bhushan Kumar, “Border 2” promises to offer a fresh perspective on the historic events depicted in its predecessor, setting the stage for an enthralling cinematic experience.
