Randeep Hooda reminisces his shelved project on ‘Battle of Saragarhi’ Anniversary

Audiences always love the films that are made on real life events. We may not be present there at that moment but through our films, we get to experience the real life incident. One such incident which holds a special place in the hearts of every Indian is Battle of Saragarhi. Yesterday 12th September marked the 124th Anniversary of the battle and actor Randeep Hooda remembered it with his shelved film that was to be made to commemorate the martyrdom of 21 Sikh soldiers.

Sharing his look from the film, he wrote,”Some movies never get made but the stories live on forever ..  In 1897 on the Northwest Frontier (present day #afghanistan ) 21 #Sikhs stood up against 10000 #afghanistani tribesmen.. It was a certain inevitable death but the decision to take a stand in spite of the odds and not show their backs to the enemy marks this 6.5 hrs fierce battle to death as one of the greatest last stands in the armed history of the world. 3 #gurudwara have been made in their memorial.. this one is in near#goldentemple #amritsar

Boleeeeeeeeeee sooo nihala..Saaaaaatsriakaaalaaa #Waheguru ji ka #Khalsa .. Waheguru ji ki Fateh #Saragarhiday”

Randeep Hooda was to star in a film that was based on this battle but the project got shelved because Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari was being made on the same theme.

Randeep had fully prepared himself for the role and the actor had kept his hair uncut for almost 3 years, as can be seen in the picture shared.

On the workfront, the actor will  be seen in ‘Unfair & Lovely’ which is a social comedy film directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua. It stars Ileana D’Cruz opposite him and is based on the obsession of Indians with fair skin.  He will also be seen in ‘Rat on a Highway’ which is directed by Vivek Singh Chauhan.
