SRK’s Smart Reply to Shashi Tharoor wins the Hearts of Internet after Bagging His Debut National Award

A recent social media exchange between Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and politician Shashi Tharoor showcased SRK’s signature wit, delighting fans just as much as his stellar performances do.

The conversation unfolded shortly after Shah Rukh Khan’s widely celebrated win for Best Actor at the 71st National Film Awards for his role in Jawan. As congratulatory messages flooded in from across the industry and beyond, one particular post by Shashi Tharoor on X grabbed attention.

Famed for his expansive vocabulary and eloquence, Tharoor wrote, “A National Treasure wins a National Award! Congratulations @iamsrk!” In his trademark humorous style, Shah Rukh responded, “Thank u for the simple praise Mr Tharoor. Would not have understood something more magniloquent and sesquipedalian ha ha,” sparking laughter and applause from netizens.

For those unfamiliar, “magniloquent” means using lofty or grand speech, while “sesquipedalian” refers to the use of long, polysyllabic words—perfectly capturing Tharoor’s distinctive style. But Shah Rukh didn’t stop there.

Known for his warm connection with peers and fans, he made it a point to personally reply to nearly everyone who sent wishes his way. To Jawan director Atlee, he sent a playful note: “MAAASSS MAAASSS MAASSS. Thank you for your vision. Only you could do this… In the next song, we will do more steps. Love u.”

He also responded cheekily to his wife, Gauri Khan, who had posted a celebratory message alongside Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar. Shah Rukh quipped, “Please brag about me to me when we sit for dinner tonight… thanks for producing the film.”

Besides, lighthearted moments, Shah Rukh shared a heartfelt video expressing gratitude for the overwhelming love and support he’s received. Meanwhile, the actor is currently recovering from a hand injury sustained during the shoot of his upcoming film King, which stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone.
