When Pawandeep Rajan, the winner of Indian Idol 12, hoisted the trophy in the singing reality programme, he was showered with presents and provided hope to millions of people watching him on television. Pawandeep received lavish gifts from his friends and fellow contestants on the show, in addition to the prize money of Rs 25 lakh and a car.
Arunita Kanijlal, who came in second, bought Pawandeep a fancy Audi Q7, which starts at Rs 69.27 lakh and goes up to Rs 81.18 lakh.
Since the creative team of Indian Idol 12 constructed a bogus love angle between Pawandeep and Arunita, people have been clamouring to see them together. They have always maintained, though, that they are simply good friends.
Their body language, on the other hand, gives fans the impression that something is certainly cooking between them. Arunita and Pawandeep were snapped together with Shanmukhapriya at a recent function, and the two apparently couldn’t take their gaze away from each other. The photographs and videos went viral on social media, making their followers ecstatic as their chemistry was clearly visible.
Apart from Arunita, the other contenders are said to have given Pawandeep very rare and expensive gifts. One of the finalists, Sayli Kamble, presented Pawandeep with a gold chain worth Rs 72,000, while the fourth runner-up, Mohd Danish, presented his winning companion with a guitar worth Rs 14 lakh.
Pawandeep received a traditional Rajasthani outfit from Sawai Bhatt, whose elimination enraged fans, and a platinum jewellery worth Rs 4 lakh from Anjali Gaikwad. Pawandeep received a Manish Malhotra-designed outfit costing Rs 1.3 lakh from Shanmukhapriya, and a pair of Nike sneakers worth Rs 35,000 from his close buddy Ashish Kulkarni.
Pawandeep received a box of pricey chocolates from Nihal Tauro, who was also a finalist, and a perfume worth Rs 23,000 from Anushka Banerjee.
All of the candidates seemed to adore Pawandeep from the start, and their friendship is now etched in Indian Idol history.
