SRK La Trobe University PhD Scholarship Reaches to an Indain Research Student

Last August when Shah Rukh Khan was in Melbourne at one of the prestigious film festivals, he announced a scholarship for La Trobe University in Australia for all the Indian female research students who ware taking up a Ph.D. program in different fields like Ecology, Animal Science and Molecular Studies. The actor announced the scholarship as he claims to be a staunch believer in Education.

This year when the intake has begun in Australia, a female student from Kerala called Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi from Thrissur in Kerala applied for it. She aspired to pursue her Ph.D. in farming practices through animal science, ecology and molecular studies. She was one of the 800 Indian female students who has applied for the scholarship at the said university. She was lucky enough to bag this four-year scholarship at one of the ceremonies here yesterday.

While giving away the scholarship to the lady, SRK said he is an ardent believer in education and would, therefore, like to congratulate Gopika for the same. He said that education does not stop with any qualification as it continues to go long. Empowering female students is key to building up a society. He called education anywhere in the world to be a progressive step for all. He then applauded the university saying that La Trobe is a fantastic place to study and he is glad that the students get the opportunity to do their research at this university. Talking about the IFFM (Indian Film Festival Melbourne), he applauded their initiatives like these that gave him the chance to be the part of it with the La Trobe University Scholarship program.
