The multi-starrer movie Happy New Year finally hit the theatres today in around 5000 screens including single and multiplexes both in India and abroad. Being released during the festive eve of Diwali, the fervour and spirit of the festival has really helped it to get a good start over the box office. As expected and even witnessed in the pre-booking through a number of online booking sites, the occupancy of Happy New Year was simply incredible. The occupancy rate at most of the places tolled to 80 to 90 percent and the day turned to dusk, it even was recorded to be around 95 to 100 percent.
Thanks to the higher star value present in the movie in the form of Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and others, the film excelled over the box office. The collection with such occupancy rate and with no movies in the competition on this day the figure for box office went to around 35 crore, while the first weekend would even see a rise over the coming two days. The cities including Delhi (NCR), Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pune got an overwhelming response. The morning shows at the multiplexes at these cities were recorded as houseful. Indeed, HNY, has rocked and its collection would soar to leaps and bounds for sure.
