Sneha Khanwalkar is among the popular Indian music director who is seen working in a number of movies. She is from Marathi family, while was born and brought up in one of the cities of Madhya Pradesh called Indore. Her parents were involved in the Gwalior gharana of Hindustani classical music, which gave her exposure to music the very early days of her life. However, in the year 2001, her family shifted to Mumbai, the city of dreams, with the aspiration to make her join engineering college, however, she headed to work in animations and then finally to art direction choosing the career of music at the end of the day, thus reverting to her old and childhood dreams.
Wiki : In the year 2003, she did her first project called The Hope, which was screened at International Filmfest Emden in Germany. This followed a short film called Undisputed in the year 2006, and then came Kal wherein she did the title song. Some of her known movies, which brought her laurels include the songs like Oye Lucky, Lucky Oye, Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2, Khoobsurat, Youngistaan, Dishiyaoon, etc. She also worked for Ram Gopal Varma’s movie called Sarkar Raj and Go. In the year 2008, she also got the chance to visit the popular music festival in Haryana called Raagini Music Festival, which became the yardstick for her to develop a couple of soundtrack with Haryaynvi musical influences.
Apart for singing a couple of films, she is also active over the smaller screen. She was seen in the position of a host of a popular music based MTV mini series known as Sound Trippin wherein she got the chance to travel a number of places in India including Banaras, Goa, Leh, Yellapur in the North Cannara and a number of places in Punjab. This is where she collected a number of local sounds both from the seasoned and regular singers apart from the local musicians, which helped her create her own piece of music, which resonates the sounds and the feel from the location. This show was a bit hit in and was produced by the company called Babble Fish Productions. Lastly, as far as the awards are concerned, she was nominated under the category of Best Music Director in the 58th Filmfare Award function. The last movie, which she had worked, was the Fawad Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer Khoobsurat released in September 2014.
