Sikandar Shows Cancelled in Multiple Theaters, Replaced by All The Best Pandya, L2 Empuraan & The Diplomat; Gaiety-Galaxy Adds More Shows Amid Huge Demand

The Salman Khan-starrer Sikandar has failed to resonate with audiences as intended. Despite a slight uptick in viewership on its second day of release, word of mouth has been overwhelmingly negative, indicating that the film is likely to experience a decline once the holiday season concludes. Acknowledging this trend, theatres have started to reduce the number of showings for Sikandar and replace them with successful holdover films.
Reports have surfaced about Sikandar shows being canceled due to low attendance. A trade source informed Bollywood Hungama, “While we didn’t find any instances of canceled shows in Mumbai, there were screenings with single-digit audiences. However, no shows were canceled on the first two days due to low turnout.
That said, cancellations did occur in cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Indore, particularly in areas where the Eid effect was minimal.”Kiritbhai T Vaghasia, who operates The Friday Cinema multiplex in Surat, shared, “Not a single ticket was sold for the 9:00 am and 10:00 am shows on Monday. I expected a larger audience for this film on Eid, but we sold more tickets on Sunday, the release day. I think the negative word of mouth spread quickly, leading to disappointing numbers on Monday.
Due to this lackluster response, he had to cut back on Sikandar showings. Kirtibhai revealed, “I replaced two night shows with All The Best Pandya and Umbarro. Both of these Gujarati films are drawing decent crowds. Surprisingly, Umbarro is in its ninth week and is still attracting audiences.”All The Best Pandya, which premiered on March 14, has been performing well across Gujarat and in Mumbai.
In Inox Raghuleela KandivaliSikandar‘s 9:30 pm show was replaced with the Gujarati film starting April 1. From April 2, the cinema will also remove the 5:30 pm showing of Salman Khan’s film in favor of Umbarro.Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan is also seeing steady foot traffic in several cinemas. In Cinepolis Seawoods and PVR Orion Mall Panvel, the 9:40 pm and 5:30 pm shows of Sikandar were cut and replaced with the Malayalam film. Meanwhile, in South Mumbai’s upscale Inox Nariman Point and Metro InoxThe Diplomat, starring John Abraham, will take over the 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm slots instead of Sikandar.
