Shweta Basu Prasad is a known film actress who is more known in the South Indian film industry than the Hindi films and TV world. She also works in Bengali and other regional film industry. She was born on 11th January 1991 in Jamshedpur (now in Jharkhand), while headed to Mumbai with her family when she was a kid. She was born in a family of father from Bihar and mother from West Bengal. She went to RN Podar High School for schooling in Santacruz in Mumbai, while did her college in commerce from there only. Her screen name Basu comes from her mother’s side that helped her a lot.
She started working early as a child actress starting with the film called Makdee a film by Vishal Bhardwaj, which even fetched the National Film Award for the Best Child Artist. She soon was seen in a TV serial called Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki playing the role of Shruti in it and then working in soap operas like Karishma Kaa Karishma. Soon she got a film in B Town called Iqbal in 2005 and got the chance to play the character called Khadija. She was applauded at Karachi International Film Festival giving a good exposure in the global level. She got a couple of awards for the supporting role apart from being nominated at a number of places.
Some of the movies in which he has worked include Vaah! Life Ho TohAisi, DarnaZarooriHai, Telugu movie – Kotha Bangaru Lokam, Ride, Kasko, Raa Raa, Priyudu and Ek Nadir Galpo: Tale of a River to name a few. The TV serials include Kutumb, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, The Magic Make-Up Box, Darr Sabko Lagta Hai and Chandragupta Maurya. She was also dragged into a controversy for the allegation of skiny business ring. She was even booked under the same for a couple of months under the same allegation apart from being involved in human trafficking.
