Shreya Ghoshal, Javed Ali, Alka Yagnik and others arrive to pay tribute to KK

Popular singer KK passed away at night on 31 May due to a heart attack in Kolkata. His body has been returned to Mumbai, and his funeral will take place at Versova Hindu Cemetery on Thursday afternoon. KK’s colleagues from the film and music industries are attending the funeral and paying their respects to the singer.

Members of the music industry paid their last respects to legendary vocalist Krishnakumar Kunnath, better known by his stage name KK. While singing, the singer became ill and was rushed to a private hospital, where he was pronounced dead. On Thursday morning in Mumbai, veteran vocalist Hariharan was spotted at KK’s home. Singers Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Javed Ali, and singer-composers Salim Merchant and Raghav paid their respects to KK’s family in the afternoon. Vishal Bhardwaj and Kabir Khan, both filmmakers, were also seen visiting KK’s home. Jyothy Krishna, KK’s wife, and their two children, Nakul and Taamara, survive him.

Alka YagnikAs the singer’s body was taken for the last rites, his son Nakula Krishna Kunnath was seen performing the last rites of his father. Wrapped in a white kurta and mundu, Nakul glimpsed devasted as he enters the ambulance along with his father’s body.


To the unversed, KK started his career with indie-pop albums, later on, in 2000 he got a break in Bollywood with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with the song Tadap Tadap. After that, he became a sensational singer and kept on giving magnitude performances one by one. Till now, he has delivered more than 200 songs out of which Zara Sa, Khuda Jaane, and Aankhon Mein Teri are one of his highly appreciated songs.
