Jaya Prada sentenced to 6 months in jail and fined in a past case

Veteran actor and politician Jaya Prada was sentenced to six months in jail by a court in Chennai for non-payment of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) money to workers of her theatre. Veteran actor and politician Jaya Prada has been sentenced to six months in jail by a court in Chennai for non-payment of Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) money to workers of her theatre. The court also imposed a fine of â‚ą5,000 on Jaya Prada and her business partners Ram Kumar and Raja Babu.

The workers of the theatre had filed a case against Jaya Prada in 2017, alleging that she had not paid their ESI contributions for several years. The ESI is a statutory social security scheme that provides benefits to employees in case of sickness, maternity, disability, and death. The court found Jaya Prada guilty of violating the ESI Act and sentenced her to six months in jail. She has also been ordered to pay the ESI contributions that she had not paid to the workers.

The theatre, Jayaprada Cinema, was shut down in 2017. The workers of the theatre then complained to the Labour Government Insurance Corporation (LIC), alleging that Jaya Prada had not paid their ESI contributions for several years. The LIC filed a case against Jaya Prada and her associates at the Egmore Magistrate Court in Chennai. Jaya Prada admitted to the charges and promised to clear the long dues, but the court refused her appeal and imposed a fine of â‚ą5,000 and six months in jail.

The ESI is a statutory social security scheme that provides benefits to employees in case of sickness, maternity, disability, and death. By not paying the ESI contributions, Jaya Prada had deprived her employees of these benefits. This is not the first time that Jaya Prada has been in trouble with the law. In 2013, she was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a corruption case. She was later released on bail.

Jaya Prada is a popular actor and politician who has been active in the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi film industries. She has also served as a Member of Parliament. The case against Jaya Prada is a reminder of the importance of complying with the ESI Act. Employers who fail to pay their employees’ ESI contributions can face serious consequences, including imprisonment.
