It was a busy Friday as too many films came for its release, which certainly include the Vidhu Vinod Chopra starrer film – Shikara. The film was released amidst a low buzz with some controversy around it did pick up on the second day. With the 1st-day box office collection reaching 1.2 Crores at the box office, we had a better figure for the second day. Although it was affected in the Delhi area and to some extent the NCR as well for the most-awaited Delhi Elections.
Yet the way the film performed when compared to the first day was better. With several actors doing the debut with this film, they did score well in terms of acting and performance. Made with a love story at the backdrop of a Kashmiri Pandit’s genocide, the film did make some bad news as one of the videos of a lady yelling on the makers for not showing the atrocities on the Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to flee their place.
The collection on the first day coming as 1.2 Crores, there seemed a 50 per cent boost on the second day with the collection reaching to 3.05 Crores. This helped the film to secure 1.85 Crores more than the previous day. Sunday seemed better in terms of the other two days with the collection reaching 3.50 Crores. Thus with these figures, the 1st-weekend box office collection went to around 7.25 Crores. The ultimate aim of the makers is to score more than The Tashkent Files which scored 20 crores.
