Though Shandaar did a decent opening this Thursday with a collection of 13.1 crores, but failed to impress the following days. Considering the mixed reviews floating at most of the critics’ columns, the film managed to get a decent opening but failed to retain the same figure the other day. Friday was lousy for Shandaar with collection only reaching 7.55 cores. Similar was the story during the Saturday. And Sunday being the match between India and South Africa, the collection seemed low at the box office. Thus at the end of the first weekend, the collection wasn’t that impressive considering the hype and buzz of the film.
As per reports, the first weekend box office collection tolled around 35 crores, which isn’t that expected figure that was expected by the filmmaker. Despite all the hype pertaining to the crackling chemistry between Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor, the film failed to retain the pace, it created on the first day of the release. On the other side, Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 seemed taking advantage and thus seen adding up its collection, which will make it close to 50 crores. And talking about the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Jazbaa, it was nothing but an average grocer, which failed to pass the test of good collection.
