Shalmali Kholgade is a known playback singer and songwriter. She was born and brought up in Mumbai on 2nd January 1988. She is the daughter of Uma Kholgade who is a renowned singer and a theatre personality. She started her training in music when she was barely of eight years of age under her own mom Uma. She then headed for a training from popular musician called Shubhada Paradkar. Apart from the Marathi and Hindi songs, she also sings for languages like English, Tamil and Telugu. Apart from playback singing and songwriting, she also tried her luck in acting but failed to go beyond the Marathi film called Tu Maza Jeev, which was released on 1st May 2009.

Shalmali Kholgade started singing when she was barely sixteen, however, her career in Bollywood as a singer started with the film Ishaqzaade in the year 2012 with the song Pareshaan, which turned very much popular at that time. She then sung the song called Daaru Desi from the Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer film called Cocktail and Lat Lag Gayee for the film Race 2 and in the same year she was seen singing for the Karan Johar film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani called Balam Pichkari. She gave a two-hour tribute to one of her favorite singers called Amy Winehouse in Mumbai wherein she was attended widely.

Besides, Shalmali Kholgade is also a vocalist with Mikey McCleary’s known act called The Bartender wherein she was seen performing with some melodious rendition of vintage Bollywood songs, which she revamped the songs in a new sensuous zest. Shalmali has also performed as a soloist with a Latin based group called Bombaloo for which she toured at cities like Armenia, Yerevan and Moscow. In Mumbai, she has been involved with Ali Zafar’s song working as a background vocal singer. Currently, she is busy judging a reality show of kids called Indian Idol Junior aired on Sony Entertainment. As far as her awards are concerned she has been nominated and won for her very first song Pareshaan from the film Ishaqzaade.
