Shahid Kapoor to play ‘a rebellious police officer’ in his upcoming investigative thriller directed by Rosshan Andrews

Shahid Kapoor, who played a fraudster and con artist in Farzi and a merciless assassin in the upcoming action-thriller ‘Bloody Daddy,’ is now gearing up to play a cop in yet another investigative thriller.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be produced by Zee Studios and Roy Kapur Films who are collaborating for the first time. The film will be helmed by popular Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews.  Zee Studios made the project’s official announcement on social media today.  The film’s plot centres around a talented yet rebellious police officer who stumbles upon a web of deception and betrayal while investigating a high-profile case.

Although the film is currently in pre-production, the producers have revealed that the film will go on floors in second half of 2023 and they are planning to release the film in 2024. There had been few media stories about Pooja Hegde being cast as the film’s female protagonist. However, there has been no confirmation from the makers of any of these reports as of yet.

Shahid Kapoor said that he is looking forward to working in this film as he is getting a chance to play rebellious police officer in this film: “It’s rare to find a subject that has action, thrill, drama and suspense all packed into one script and I am really looking forward to this. It’s a privilege to be collaborating with Zee Studios and with Siddharth Roy Kapur with whom I have worked on Haider and Kaminey earlier”, said Shahid.

“Rosshan Andrrews is a veteran filmmaker whose Malayalam filmography is spectacular,” Shahid continued. “We have spent many months together now and it will be a pleasure to work with such a fantastic cinematic mind. I can’t wait to bring this exhilarating, entertaining and thrilling story to the masses.”

Rosshan Andrews is known for films like Mumbai Police, Notebook, Kayamkulam Kochunni, How Old Are You, and Salute, to name a few. He made his debut as a director with the Malayalam film Udayananu Tharam.
According to certain media sources, this planned investigative thriller is an official remake of either of Rosshan’s previous directorial efforts, Mumbai Police or Salute.

Speaking about the project, Andrrews in his official statement said, “I am thrilled to make my Bollywood debut with this gripping story and work with such an incredible team of professionals. The combination of Shahid’s exceptional acting, Siddharth Roy Kapur’s expertise as a producer, and Zee Studios’ commitment to delivering ground-breaking content is truly inspiring. Their passion and dedication to the project have been instrumental in bringing the story to life.”
