Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 film Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is reportedly being considered for a theatrical re-release. The film delves into the pressing theme of illegal immigration, which has gained renewed significance in light of recent incidents involving the deportation of Indian immigrants from the United States. According to a report by Mid-Day, discussions are ongoing at Red Chillies Entertainment, the film’s production house, to potentially bring Dunki back to cinemas as early as this month.
Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee PannuDunki follows the story of Hardy (played by Khan), who aids his friends from Punjab in their attempt to migrate to the UK via the perilous “donkey route.” The film sheds light on the risks and challenges faced by illegal immigrants, a topic that has ignited extensive discussions following recent deportation videos. A source noted, “The situation with Indian immigrants being deported in terrible conditions has reignited conversations around the themes of Dunki. Like every Rajkumar Hirani film, it was always meant to be more than just a big-ticket release; it highlighted a real struggle.

However, Red Chillies Entertainment has not yet provided an official comment regarding the potential re-release. As discussions continue, fans eagerly await updates on whether Dunki will return to theaters.
