Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone to Reunite for Pathaan 2 as Script Gets Finalized

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are reportedly gearing up to reprise their roles in the highly anticipated sequel, Pathaan 2. Aditya Chopra has confirmed that the script is locked, with plans to begin shooting in the first quarter of 2026. However, Siddharth Anand, who directed the first installment, will not return to helm the sequel. According to Peeping Moon, “Aditya has been working on the script for Pathaan 2 since mid-2023. The sequel is designed to not only continue Pathaan’s journey but also to set the stage for larger conflicts in future installments of YRF’s Spy Universe.”

The scripting process has taken considerable time due to its intricate storytelling and extensive planning. Aditya, along with co-writers Sridhar Raghavan and Abbas Tyrewala, has crafted a thrilling, high-stakes narrative that aims to surpass the original film in both scale and intensity. Reports indicate that Aditya consulted with SRK during the script development, and Khan is enthusiastic about the sequel’s direction.

The search for a new director is currently ongoing, as Chopra seeks a fresh perspective for this exciting spy mission. Preparations for the film are expected to kick off in late 2025, with Shah Rukh Khan slated to start shooting after completing King, his upcoming film with Suhana Khan, which is also directed by Siddharth Anand and aims for a 2026 release.

Pathaan 2 will mark the eighth film in YRF’s expanding Spy Universe, which already includes hit films like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and the forthcoming War 2 featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
