The 2013 film Fukrey was a big hit in the theaters. It wasn’t expected though, yet with low star value, the film was able to perform better over the box office. All thanks to the rich content the film encompasses, which paved ways for the film. Considering the unexpected good response for the film, the filmmakes – Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani‘s owned production company called Excel Entertainment planned to embark with its sequel. However, as per the recent news, the sequel seems to be at the backburner.
As per its director Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, the sequel is on hold as of now, while he would be pursuing his next comic venture this year and then would follow the same. As per the director, though the script is ready, but they are not satisfied on the same. Hence, the team is likely to rewrite the script and make it more interesting, which has made the project go on hold. The first part had a number of actors including Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha, Manjot Singh, Priya Anand and Vishakha Singh in the lead roles.
Currently Lamba is working on other comedy film, which is backed by the Farhan and Ritesh production company – Excel Entertainment.
