Sanjeeda Shaikh Joins Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna in Netflix’s Action Thriller Ikka
Actress Sanjeeda Shaikh has been officially signed on to star alongside Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna in the eagerly awaited Netflix action thriller Ikka. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra—known for acclaimed films like We Are Family, Hichki, and Maharaj—this project marks a significant milestone in Sanjeeda’s expanding filmography and promises to be one of the standout OTT releases of the year.
Ikka is notable for its original script in the OTT space, featuring Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna in parallel lead roles. This film reunites the two stars after 28 years, recalling their iconic collaboration in Border (1997). While early rumors suggested Ikka might be a remake of the Hollywood vigilante thriller Death Sentence, reports later confirmed that both Deol and Malhotra rejected the idea, choosing instead to craft a fresh and unconventional story. Netflix’s strong backing of this large-scale action venture combines star power with modern storytelling.
Sanjeeda joins the cast at a time when both her co-stars are in the spotlight for their recent and upcoming projects. Sunny Deol, recently seen in Jaat, is gearing up for Border 2 and Lahore 1947, while also spending time with his father Dharmendra following a recent health scare. Akshaye Khanna, who last appeared as Aurangzeb in Chhaava, is set for a December 5, 2025 release of Dhurandhar alongside Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal.
He is also involved in the Mahakali installment of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. Sanjeeda herself continues to impress, with her recent Netflix project Heeramandi (2024) receiving positive acclaim, further establishing her presence in the digital space.
