Salman Khan: “I don’t live like a star”.

The 49 year-old actor and producer may have appeared in more than 100 Bollywood films, and have earned himself the nickname “The Box-Office King”, but Salman insists that he hasn’t let the fame go to his head.
Speaking to PTI, the ‘Kick’ star said: ” I don’t take stardom seriously at all. I don’t behave like a star and I don’t live like a star. It is how people perceive me.”
Salman continued to say that despite being ranked the seventh highest-paid actor in the world, he still wears the same clothes he was wearing over a decade ago, as he hasn’t let his success change him. Instead, he feels that people get confused between him and the glamorous characters he plays.
Salman explained: “I am wearing a t-shirt worth Rs 550, jeans which is 15 years old and shoes which are there since past 20 years, that’s it. What makes people treat me as a star is the image which is transferred to me through my on-screen characters.”
Despite having spent over 25 years working in the industry, Salman said he owes a lot of his success to those who have helped him throughout the years.
The ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ actor said: “Thousands of people have helped me build this image. After spending so many years in the industry, I now have the liberty to select scripts, but before that I had no say. People like Sooraj Barjatya, my dad (Salim Khan) and Deepak Bahry have made me.”
Salman’s latest production venture, ‘Hero’, a romantic action film which stars Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi, is set to be released this Friday .
