Goodbye box office prediction: Extremely promising film but only word of mouth can save the film

Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Goodbye will be a perfect watch for people looking for a family entertainer this weekend. The plot of the film is intriguing because it is centred on a funeral for a key family member, the emotions of those who give her a ‘bidaai,’ age-old traditions, and the clash of generations. All of this could have easily become overwhelming, forcing audiences to bear it all with a heavy heart.

However, if the trailer of Goodbye is to be believed, filmmaker Vikas Bahl deserves credit for blending it all with humour and making the narrative as lighthearted as possible.

As a result of this, the film has become more accessible to a larger number of people, though in the end, it all comes down to word of mouth. The film’s opening weekend is unlikely to be a box office success due to the subject’s inherent limitations. However, with Amitabh Bachchan leading the film and Rashmika Mandanna (of Pushpa fame) making her Bollywood debut as his daughter, the overall set-up gains credibility.

However, one has the impression that the film could have been pushed even further with aggressive marketing and promotion. Because the content appears to be of high quality, a larger opening day could have been planned, as was done with Piku, which began at Rs. 5.30 crores. As a result, in the case of Goodbye, the first day could begin with Rs. 2 crores. However, from the looks of things, the film should do well with the audience, with word of mouth helping to drive growth over the weekend.
