Sai Dharam Tej’s Telugu supernatural-thriller ‘Virupaksha’ enters 100 crore club
Sai Dharam Tej’s Telugu supernatural-thriller ‘Virupaksha’ has managed to achieve the unthinkable. The film, helmed by debutant director Karthik Varma Dandu, has entered in the 100 crore club within just 25 days of its release, a rare achievement for a film of this genre.
Makers made the official announcement about the film entering into the 100 crore club on social media today.

Released on 21 April, the film has managed to earn Rs. 46 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and worldwide the film has minted Rs. 100 crore. Given that the film doesn’t have any tough competition at the box office for another couple of weeks, one can safely say that the film can add few more crores to it’s total box office collection. Seeing the fantastic response for the film in Telugu, the makers have dubbed the film into other languages and released it pan India wide in the Tamil and Hindi languages recently.
The plot of ‘Virupaksha’ is set in 1991 and revolves around a village called Rudravanam where the film’s protagonist Surya (Sai Dharam Tej), who is a scientist comes with his mother to meet his family. The village is haunted by an evil force that kills the residents mysteriously. The protagonist, decides to uncover the riddle and assist the locals. The plot that follows is full of twists, thrills, and supernatural occurrences.
Along with Sai Dharam Tej, this movie has an ensemble cast of Samyuktha Menon, Ajay, Rajeev Kanakala, Sai Chand, Brahmaji, Shyamala, Soniya Singh, and Sunil. ‘Virupaksha’ is produced by BVSN Prasad under the banners of Sri Venkateshwara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings. B Ajaneesh Lokanath who has earlier given the music for blockbusters like Vikrant Rona and Kantara has composed music for this film.
Virupaksha OTT release: Virupaksha has sealed it’s OTT rights. The OTT rights of the film are acquired by Netflix. And the film will premiere on Netflix exactly one after it’s theatrical release i.e. 21 May
