Bio – Rohit Shetty is a familiar name in Bollywood Film Industry. Having directed some of the best movies at his favorite destination Goa, he has made his mark as a director in the entertainment industry. Some of his best movies, which he directed include the infamous Golmal series (all the three parts), Singham, Bol Bachchan and Chennai Express (starring Shah Rukh Khan the first time). His film with SRK has fetched one of the biggest blockbuster collections after the hit movies like Dhoom 3 and Krrish 3, and is among the movie with highest distributor share in the history of Indian film industry.
Peeping into his personal life, he hails from Mangalore, Karnataka, India who is the son of the well known actor MB Shetty who is popularly called as Fighter Shetty (who acted in both Hindi and Kannada movies). Having a strong film background, it wasn’t tough for him to make his career in the film industry. However, he had a modest start by being an Asst Director at the age of 17 years in the film Phool Aur Kaante wherein he was seen assisting Kuku Kohli. This followed another movie called Suhag, Haqeeqat and Zulmi. Working with Ajay Devgan in several movies, he developed a good rapport with the actor and hence was finally seen directing the movie Hindustan Ki Kasam and Raju Chacha, which came up from Devgan’s home productions. However, his independent movie as a director was Zameen in 2003.
One of his hit series include the sequel of Golmal, wherein he was seen making three different sequels at various junctures with Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi and other big names in the industry. The other movie hit, which people really enjoyed was Sunday wherein Ajay Devgan, Ayesha Takia and Arshad Warsi were seen doing some incredible roles in the movie. The nature of movies Rohit Shetty is known producing is the comic, action, suspense, and even serious as well. However, he is known for producing excellent blend of comical and action movies, which is a good combination giving him huge money at the blockbuster hit. Chennai Express is one of the classic examples, which fetched him good amount of accolades and revenue (112 crore) over the block buster hit.
Apart from trying his successful hand in direction, he is also seen as judge in various reality shoes and comedy series telecasted in the leading TV channels. Besides, he will be seen as a host in the popular reality shoe called Khatron Ke Khiladi in the coming months. He has been rewarded with two awards – Best Comedy – Romance Director in the year 2011 for his film Golmaal 3 and best Stardust Dream Director Award in 2012 for his movie Singham.
