On March 14, celebrating his birthday, filmmaker Rohit Shetty treated fans with an exclusive behind-the-scenes video from the much-anticipated Golmaal 5. The clip offered a sneak peek of the film’s shoot and revealed exciting surprises for fans of the beloved comedy franchise.
The video opens with the crew prepping the set, gradually introducing cast members as they arrive. The biggest thrill came with the confirmation of Sharman Joshi’s return as Laxman Sharma thus making his comeback to Golmaal after nearly two decades. Joshi originally played one of the iconic Laxman characters in Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), the film that launched this popular series directed by Shetty and led by Ajay Devgn.
Adding to the excitement, the video features a brief but striking glimpse of Akshay Kumar sporting a bald look. In a playful moment, Devgn quips, “Koi franchise nahi chhodta hai ye,” confirming Kumar’s involvement. Reports suggest Akshay will play the antagonist, bringing a fresh twist to the franchise’s usual comedy vibe.
Shetty also reflected on the journey of Golmaal in his social media caption: “20 years ago, the first Golmaal released, a film that changed my life. The credit goes to you, my audience. Over these years, we have entertained and, yes, sometimes disappointed you, but we have always been honest in our work.”He added, “Now, once again, my fabulous team and I are set to entertain you as filming for Golmaal 5 begins.
