Rohan Vinayak Music Unveils the Intense Soundscape of Anil Kapoor’s Subedaar

Music director duo Rohan Utpat and Vinayak Salvi, known as Rohan Vinayak Music, have garnered acclaim for their original background score and the powerful track ‘Lalla’ in the action drama Subedaar, starring Anil Kapoor and directed by Suresh Triveni. The high-energy song, sung by Vishal Dadlani, underscores a pivotal moment in the film, amplifying its emotional intensity.
Rohan Utpat shared that their collaboration with director Suresh Triveni spans over a decade, built on trust and creative synergy. “Suresh had a clear vision from the script stage he wanted something raw and intense, quite different from the melodic work we had done before,” he explained.
The duo crafted the film’s score with a sound-driven approach rather than relying on traditional melodies. They employed textured soundscapes, industrial tones, and atmospheric synth layers to reflect the psychological tension of Anil Kapoor’s character. The Subedaar theme, composed months before the teaser release, became the foundation for the entire score, allowing them to explore intricate sound details that breathe with the visuals.
Instead of conventional orchestral arrangements, Rohan and Vinayak incorporated unconventional sounds inspired by the film’s environment mechanical noises, ticking clocks, workshop sounds, and drilling effects — weaving these elements seamlessly into the score to heighten the film’s suspenseful atmosphere.Vinayak described ‘Lalla’ as an extension of the protagonist’s emotional turmoil. “It’s not a typical song; it’s like the character expressing suppressed anger and energy through music.”
The track blends gritty rock-grunge vibes with orchestral strings, especially live cellos, adding depth and intensity. Director Suresh Triveni encouraged experimentation, giving the duo freedom to push creative boundaries. The addition of Vishal Dadlani’s distinctive voice elevated ‘Lalla,’ which has since gained popularity on social media and music charts.
Rohan Vinayak Music’s impressive portfolio includes films like Nil Battey Sannata, Sarkar 3, Tarla, Lootcase, and 102 Not Out, as well as the series Break Point. Their Marathi film credits include Dokyala Shot, Habbadi, and Aapdi Thaapdi. Subedaar is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, with its evocative soundtrack playing a key role in the film’s gripping narrative.
