RK Studios sold to Godrej but it will have Raj Kapoor’s museum within its property

rk studio

RK Studios has been a nostalgic place for may yesteryear actors. It has acted as a launch pad for many actors in Bollywood. However, the non-maintenance of the studios have led the Kapoors to sell it off to Godrej at a decent amount. It will be now used to develop some luxury apartments. The RK Studios which is based at the area of 2.2 acres of land will now have 33000 square feet of residential apartments, which will have state of art facilities for the people.

It is estimated that the rate in the are is around 0.35 million square feet and thus Godrej would sell off at whopping cost. Randhir Kapoor while selling off the property only requested the company if they can retain the legacy of this iconic place. This soon led a letter from the Indian Film and Directors’ Association commonly known as IFTDA sent out a request letter for the same asking them to allocate a small piece of land to dedicate a museum on the life of Raj Kapoor.

The letter congratulated the company for acquiring the RK studios, which was built 70 years by Raj Kapoor. A devasting fire broke in 2017 that gutted the studio. It spells magic and thus reminds the people with incredible cinematic masterpieces, which were created at this same place by Raj Kapoor. He remained as an institution n B Town and has made the lives of many in this industry. It is therefore justified to ask the builders if they can allocate some space for the showman of B Town. The sources close to the builders also claim that they are considering this request, however, we do not have any official confirmation on this by Godrej.
