RIP Yogesh: The Veteran Bollywood lyricist is No More

A bad news there for B Town as the veteran lyricist Yogesh Guar passed away in Bombay. He has worked with top singers and filmmakers and hence when his death news came out in the media, the veteran singer – Lata Mangeshkar was first to pay a tribute to the late lyricist on social media. She tweeted she was disheartened to know about the same. She said that she was pained to know about the same. She called him a man of gentle disposition and thus she offered him with humble tribute. 

The late lyricist’s health has been in bad shape, while he was staying with his disciple in one of the Mumbai’s suburbs of NalaSopara. This man has been in the news for various reasons. Some of his popular lyrics were seen in the films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee and with classics such as “Zindagi kaise yeh paheli” and “Kahin door jab din dhal jaaye” in “Anand” have remained popular in the B Town. 

His other memorable songs include “Kayi baar yun hi dekha hai” in “Rajinigandha”; “Rajinigandha phool tumhare” and  “Badi sooni sooni hai” in “Mili”. And let’s not forget the lyrics like”Jaaneman jaaneman” and “Na jaane kyun” in “Chhoti Si Baat”; ”Rimjhim giray saawan” in “Manzil”; and ”Na bole tum na maine kuchh kaha” in “Baton Baton Mein” to name a few. He was born in Lucknow in 1943 and has reached Mumbai in the late fifties and soon got engaged in B Town as writer. His last work was seen in the film “Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain” in 2018.
