Rhea Chakraborty’s Lawyer Welcomes CBI Closure Report in Sushant Singh Rajput Case

Actor Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, expressed his approval on Saturday regarding the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)‘s filing of a closure report in the alleged suicide case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, which had subjected Chakraborty to intense scrutiny. Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra area on June 14, 2020, at the age of 34. Following his death, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Shouvik, subjecting them to prolonged questioning. Maneshinde stated, “We are grateful to the CBI for thoroughly investigating every aspect of the case and closing it,” as reported by news agency PTI.
The CBI submitted two separate closure reports related to Rajput’s death: one concerning the abetment to suicide allegation filed by his father, KK Singh, and another regarding Chakraborty’s complaint against Rajput’s sisters. The closure report based on the complaint from Rajput’s father was submitted to a special court in Patna, while the report related to Chakraborty’s case was filed in a special court in Mumbai. Officials noted that the courts will now determine whether to accept the reports or mandate further investigations. Rajput’s postmortem, conducted at Cooper Hospital in Mumbai, concluded that the actor died from asphyxia.
Following the filing of the closure report, Maneshinde remarked on the “false narrative” prevalent in social and electronic media regarding Rajput’s death and Chakraborty’s alleged involvement, stating it was “totally uncalled for.”He added, “Due to the pandemic, everyone was glued to the television and social media, leading to the hounding of innocent individuals and their portrayal in the media.
Rhea Chakraborty endured immense hardship and was incarcerated for 27 days before being granted bail.”Sushant Singh Rajput’s father, KK Singh, filed a case with the Patna Police, accusing Chakraborty of abetting suicide and misappropriating ₹15 crore from his son’s accounts. In response, Chakraborty lodged a complaint in Bandra, alleging that Rajput’s sisters administered medications based on a fake prescription from a doctor at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. This case was subsequently taken over by the CBI, with Chakraborty claiming that Rajput died five days after receiving the improperly prescribed medications.
